Placement of the Biogents Mosquitaire tiger mosquito trap
The Biogents Mosquitaire trap is fundamentally suited for use in the garden, on the patio, on the balcony, and inside the house. However, placing the trap at certain places rather than others will make the trap especially effecitive. To locate the optimal area to place the Biogents Mosquitaire trap, establish where the tiger mosquitoes may be coming from. The mosquitoes usually come from the following places:
- Breeding Waters: Mosquitoes lay their eggs in stagnant water. From there, the recently emerged mosquitoes begin searching for their first host. Thus, identify yourself with possible breeding waters around. These could be:
- Wet habitats (all that do not contain small fish)
- Puddles
- Rain barrels, rain gutters, or any other containers that hold even small quantities of water.
When possible, empty out the water filled containers to reduce the potential breeding spots or fill them with sand or gravel. - Rest Zones: Mosquitoes spend their rest periods in foliage, for example hedges and other shady, windless places with high humidity to prevent water loss. From these rest areas the mosquitoes can also begin their search for their host.
Mosquitoes do not like any place with intense direct sun exposure or with wind.
Therefore, place the trap upright on the ground in a position that is located close to their breeding spots or their rest spots, is windless, shady, and at a distance of roughly one meter from other objects (i.e. bushes).

Placing the trap in very tall grass or under bushes will impair the effectiveness of the trap. An ideal location for the trap is at a distance of 5 meters from the house.
Important: All of the upper surfaces of the Biogents Mosquitaire trap must be clearly visible to the mosquito, so that not only its air plume but also its specialized appearance is effective in attracting mosquitoes.
